Substitute Teacher Flexibility
On October 28, 2021 Governor Dewine signed into law Ohio Senate Bill 1(SB1) as emergency legislation. Senate Bill 1 provides Boards of Education the ability to set requirements for substitute teachers for the 2021-2022 school year only. In a typical school year, the minimum requirement to substitute teach is a bachelor's degree. However, this provision in law allows this to be altered due to the shortage of substitutes. For this school year, Northmor will establish its own set of educational requirements. The educational requirements will be an associate's degree or the completion at least two years of coursework at an accredited institution of higher education (defined as 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours). If you are interested in becoming a substitute teacher under these provisions, please contact the Northmor Board of Education Office and we will be more than happy to direct you on the process. 419-946-3946, option #4 Substitute Teacher pay at Northmor is $100/day.
